C., was in town last Saturday. There was rain here on last Monday lasting nearly all day. The county board of equalization meets hero on next Tuesday. J. A. Burbage has accepted a po sition with II. W. Mishoe. J. E. Nicholas has had the sign painter at work about his store. E. M. Smith is working the county chain gang 011 the roads neattown. The Hon. K. H. Scarborough went to Charleston on legal business last Friday. We hear much talk of line tobacco plants in different sections of the county. D. W. Jordan comes out in'this issue of the paper as a candidate for Judge of Probate. His many friends are confident of his succes, and that he will till the office with credit if elected. The sheriff has received a warrant from the sheriff of Marion county, for the arrest of Henry Tyler as a witness in the ease against Josephine Burns for the killing of Dustin Sarvis. Solicitor J. M. Johnson said last week that he had rather live, at Conway than in any other town in hif circuit Our town certainly has ^Nantages that some other towns * ^ ^togcrs, the general agent for the Morse Electric Belt, has a large advertisement in this paper showing that his belt is endorsed by loading physicians all over the country, Let him show you the belt. The town council has ordered an election to be held at the court house on March 24th, on the questian of a dispensary to be located in the town. Head the election notice in another column. In this issue appears the announcement card of J. N. Pearce for the office of Probate Judge. He should mako a competent ofticcr if elected having filled the office before to the entire satisfaction of the people. Dusenbury of Socnstee visited relatives in Conway last Tuesday, Miss Sallio Reynolds returned home last Tuesday, after spending several weeks here with Mrs. A. C. Thompson. Mrs. Thompson of Wampec, left for home last Tuesday afier a visit of several doys here. There was a special meeting of the Town Council on Wednesday night to consider the establishment of a public cemetery for the town. To shoe customers I will say that the place to buy shoes is a bio thing. S. T. Sessions. In another column appears the announcement card of Jos. Todd as a candidate for the office of Probate Judge. Roberts. Rev. John Manning performing the ceremony. The ceremony was performed in the new Methodist Church near Gideon in presence of a largo crowd. We wish the couple a long and successful life. S. Commutation Road Tax. L. 1). Long, the county treasurer, was uncertain as to his right to ac cept commutation road tax after March 1st. and telegraphed the Comptroller Ceneral.
