There will be a Christmas tree at the Hurroghs Graded School tonight and the entire town will lie welcome to participate in its pleasure, It is against a town ordinance to shoot lire crackers on the streets, but a uerfoct fmsillade, nevertheless, has been kept up for the past few nights. The town marshal had several men to assist him and did all indiis power to discover the violators of the ordinance. Tobacco Seed. The management of the Peoples Tobacco Warehouse has made ar rangeiner.ts to procure a large uuau tity of tobacco cod, which will be here by the first of January and ready for distribution. On the morniny of the 22nd of November, A. C. Grainyer and his son left their home at Hammond, S. C., at il o'clock in the morniny leaviny the wife and dauyhter at home Some time after .Mr. Grainyor's dc parturc from the dwelliny, some one appeared at the door and tried to enter but the door was locked. Mrs. Grainyer asked who was there but there was no answer. She themyot her husband's yun and a lot of shells, , and when the intruder tried the door knobayain, she ordered him to leave or she would shoot throuyh the , door. The unknown then went and - looked throuyh the window, and his face was seen to be black, but t he inmates failed to recoynize the brute. Sceiny the yun pointed in his direction he hastily left.
