Our county has been rapidly con ing to the front as a tobacco rnis ing county during the last few years. It is certain thai the acreage of the tobacco crop will bo greatlx increased next year, and tobacco will be planted by many fanners win. Iwiv< never planted it. before. Therefore there are no complaints to he made about the growth of the industry in the county. The farmers have doin and are still doing their part. But the tobacco market at Conway, while it has been good, and the tobacco sold on it has brought fair prices, yet it has not advanced and grown at the rate we hoped for. When the first Warehouse bad been succesfully established here, and another company formed and thcsecond warehouse erected, we fulltr o v txonl n<1 o ivnnwtrl S<\nn (n i ?i 1 vu i 1 u.>|;vvtvu (4 |/H'|?'? mv/imvu in crease in the strength of the market, and the establishment of a third warehouse in the very near future. Hut in the location of the second warehouse, a great mistake was made- It was built in the old muster field too far from the business centre. It seemed to the farmers like stopping out of town. The buyers* did not care* to walk the distance in the heat of a noonday sun. The lessees of the Ware house found themselves under disadvan tnges. A new company has been formed to lease the Farmers Warehouse and move it into the business part of the town, and we consider this step as one of the greatest movesevor made in the interests of a permanent and ever growing tobacco market at Conway. Those who have interested them selves in the enterprise have . done so, more from a public spirit than from any expectation of profit from the warehouse as a business enter prise. This has been the ex pros sion of most of the gentlemen who have contributed to the capital stock. Let everybody?business men farmers and all ? come together cm this matter of a tobacco market, and next year will see results which will be of mutual benelit to town and county, and will pave the way to that decree of development and prosperity which will exceed the dreams of the most sanguine. This is the season of the year when the thrifty and thoughtful far mer will be getting everything lea dy for another year's crop. Then is always plenty for a farmer to do at this time of the year. Fences are to be repaired, ditches and hedge rows to be cleaned out, the lands to be prepared for the various crops, and the thousand and one different things that must bo done about the farm in order to make ready for a crop. A Train for Millionaires. Chicago, November 21.--Chicago is to have a millionaire's train between this f'.itv Tafll/onntlilln ~ j j u uvilQVU Y I 1IU anu other Florida resorts, which will be as fine in equipment and as fast in time as the famous train running over the Atlantic Coast Line from New York to Florida points. The new train will be placed in service by the Eastern Illinois soon after the (irst of the year, and will make the trip from here to Jacksonville in thirty hours, instead of thirty one as heretofore. All the equipment to be used is to be new an:l is now in course of construction by the Pullman compa ny. The cost of the necessary equip ment will be between $700,000 and 11,000,000. This elegant new train from the West will be operated via Evansville, Nashville, Atlanta, Albany and the Atlantic Coast Line to Jacksonville, thence to St Angus tine, Flu. It will be seen that the Atlantic Coast Line will maintain its reputation for perfect passenger service ? from the West, as well as from the East. Curroughs visited John llewett who was very ill. Miss N, 1. Carter spent Monday night of last week with her brother, Monroe Carter. M. A. Westmoreland is having a new cottage erected in front of the old structure. John P. Carter and McLennon Hardee visited relatives and friends here last Saturday and Sunday. Asbury Little, we are glad to say, is able to be up again after some days of illness. Some one asked *.n the. last issue for the circumference of that long potato reported in former correspondence. 1 will try to get this information and let it appeal in the next issue. Monroe Carter and family spent last Saturday ni^lit with his parents. The holidays are nearin^ vis and our merchants are looking forward to a <jood trade. Collier Fowler, a practical tobacco raiser, will superintend a larjje crop of tobacco, we understand, near Fhlorado in this county. Messrs. S. A. Core, I)..1 Stevens, II. W. Todd and others near Kldorado are building tobacco barns S. A. Gore called on Capt. Coles for tobacco seed a few days since for his crop. J no. Glasgow reports that he has one hundred acres around Farmer po.stollico to overlook the coinine year. John is a ijootl hand. Farmers should preparo plant land now, as soon as possible, as it is time for that work. I he sure and have enough, for without plants, tobacco cannot be raised. Such a system would be a great benefit to Conway, but to get it, our people must become interested in it, and be ready to give such assistance to the enterprise as may be needed. * ?.
