of taxes on Tuesday Dec. 2nd,
instead of on Monday Dec. 1st, as
advertised, owing to the fact that
Monday is salesday.

the carnival at Georgetown this

A mule which was being driven in
a buggy by Mr. and Mrs R. L. Ol
iver, became frightened near the old
brick yard on the Bucksvillc road
last Monday afternoon and ran
away, throwing the occupants of the
vehicie out, and painfully injuring
Mrs. Oliver.
A car load of beautiful Virginia
buggies, something light, strong,
and easy running to arrive in the
next few days and will be sold cheap
for cash or on long time. Auburn
steel axle wagons, one and two horse

A young man by the name of
Blackburn was brought here on last
Saturday in a crazy condition and
violently mad at intervals. His
condition, it is believed, was caused
bv an injury received some time
ago, as he was in good health until
that time. Arrangements arc being
made to get him in the State
hospital for the insane.

A New Corporation.
On last Friday, the Secretary of
State, issued a commission to the
Hal. L. Buck Company, which will
do a general mercantile business
hero on a capital stock of $20,000.00.
The corporators are Hal. L. Buck,
G. V. Buck and It. B. Scarborough.
The company will occupy the new
brick building which will soon be
erected on the corner of Main Street
and 4th Avenue. The building will
be an up-to date one, two stories
high, and will be about 50x125 feet
in size. The erection of the building
will begin just as soon as the
specifications are all decided upon
The business will occupy one of the
best stands in the town.
OBITUARY.
On Nov. 8th, at Latta, S. C., tlio
death angel entered tho home of S.
A. Lewis and took from him his heloved
wife, llattie, in tho 80th year
of her age. She was buried t he following
day in the Latta Cemetery.
She was the daughter of Mr. and
Mrs William Leigh of Columbus
Cou ity, and was married to Solon
A. Lewis in June 1901. Life was a
scene of pleasure during her stay
with him, friends and relatives all
loved her. ller death was unexpected
to all as she only had a few
da)s of illness.
She leaves her devoted husband,
two step children, and a host of
friends and relatives to mourn her
loss.

Mrs. Joanna Hardwick.
Mrs. Joanna Hardwick died at
her residence here last Monday at
11 o'clock and was buried the following
day at the Methodist cemetery.
She leaves four children surviving
her, one by her first marriage and
three by her second, her second hus

She joined the M. E. Church when
quite youny, and later sr.e accepted
the lowly Jesus as her Saviour, and
her daily walk with Him lias been
true evidence that she was a child of
God.

Robert P. Green died very suddenly
last Friday at his residence
near Toddvillc. He was a veteran
of the civil war. and a more exten ded
obituary, will appear in our
next issue.
