THURSDAY NOV. 20th, 1D02 Nkxt Thursday is Thanksgiving Day and our people certainly have every reason to observe it Qi itk a number of people have enquired lately concerning the ago at which one is liable to road duty. Since the act passed at the last ses sion of the Legislature, all male persons between the ages of 18 and 50 years are liable to road <lutv. Conwav is becoming more and more the trade center of a largo territory. Our business men need not be afraid to build brick stores, and large ones too. A large part of the business of the county is centering J here faster than ever in the history of the town. Daisy Locals. S. M. Hux of Adrian, S. C., pass ed through this section last week on business of importance. Mr. and Mrs W. It . Carter paid relatives and friends in Brunswick County, N. C., a pleasant visit last week. Duffle Souls of iron Hill, N. C , | was with us a short time hivt looking after his business interests here. T. P. Alford from the seashore spent last Thursday night with .1. W. Carter. B. G. Gilmorc will soon erect another new tobacco barn, as his iirst year s experience brings him $125.00 per acre for his tobacco. If you want your corn crushed to your notion, bring it to Daisy every Friday. Some of our friends showed themselves neighborly last Thursday by meeting together and harvesting John Hewitt's potatoes for him. Ilu is having a great deal of sickness in his family Geo. Todd who has been engaged in the iishing business 011 the seashore returned last Saturday. John Causee and Rev, Walter Todd attended the Missionary Baptist Association in Conway last Friday and Saturday. B. L. Carter is adding new improvements to his place, therefore we are expecting the wedding bells to soon ri?g out. Joseph Prince is very ill. Chas. John Marlow of Marlows, spent Sunday with relatives here. Miss Carrie Cooper spent a few days in Conway last week. Mrs. William Dusenbury who has been spending a few weeks with her sister, Mrs. J. J. Saunders of Con way, is at home again much in. proved. There has been quite a lot of sick ness around here, but all seem to b? improving. Farmers seemed to be pleased will) their crops this year. Our school will not commence until the first of December. We arc having beautiful weather. Solium. Items Fr-jm Murrells Inlet. Farmers are through harvesting. The pea crop was abundant. Mr. Davis, one of our successful fisherman, landed a very fine "drum fish" weighing fifty eight pounds net. Mr. Thompson of Georgetown was in our section a few days ago buying cattle for the Georgetown mar ket. Messrs. Hob Stack house and 01 it ton Lcdingham of Marion spent a few days last week visiting friends and relatives on the r reek. Messrs. II. Kaminski and E. K. Beat.v of Georgetown were seen in our community lust week. We are glad to report, that Miss Ruby Beaty is at)le to be out again after a severe illness.
