here. Unfortunately, some of
us fail to see it in this light.
Nkw cottages are continually going
up indifferent parts of iho town,
but still there are not enough to
hold the people who come to Conway
to live. Keep on building.

Tiik volume of business transacted
at Conway is yearly increasing.
The groat increase in the amount of
freight handled at the depot, is positive
proof of the growth of trade
here within the past few years.
That advertising pays is proved
by the wonderful increase in the
steles of National Biscuit Co. If it
pays to advertise "Unueda Biscuit,'
of course it will pay to advertise
anything else that people need.
We are glad tli.it there are men

reason gives promise of great results

to press, and from what we can

The best way to yet the town
to growing is to get capital to come
this way. The natural resources of
Horry county are great, but they
will remain undeveloped without
capital. We are all anxious to see
the town grow, but when we are
asked to tell what we are doing toward
bringing about our desires,
most of us are compelled to answer
nothing.
Has the now court house and jail
no friends in the coounty? Surely
there must be some. In recent issues
of this paper there have ap
peared two articles against the new
court house and jail, but not one in
- . their favor. If the measure passed
at the last session of the Hegisla
tuve has any friends, they are peacefully
allowing the time to pass
away and are doing nothing. Tin

ORITUARY.
J. I*. Graham Sr., departed this
life, on June 42Kth, 11102. lie was
December 11th, 18110. Stricken with
paralysis on July 8th, 1001, his
speach was gone from the time of
his stroke, lie was a truthful, honest
man and a good father. A member
of the Raptist church, his aim
was good, lie was a soldier in the
late war. When asked as to his
hopes, though he could not speak,
ho pointed upward, lie leaves a
wife and live children to mourn his
loss. May heaven's blessing be with
the widow and children.
