Jones, the popular pastor of Greenwood church, bap tizod four candidates last Sunday. Eihtok Mkhai.u.?Now in refer enee to the now court house matter, we take the position that the county is sadly in need of a new and larger court house building, .ind we think the people of [lorry would endorse this enterprise by a large majority vote if the preliminaries were all arranged before hand so the voters could oust their ballots intelligently. We venture the opinion that the following plan would receive favorable endorsement Purchase the Todd property lying i * . it /~i 4 r r .1 i * oetween me uum i iuusj uuu .1u.11, which, wo understand Mr# Todd offers to sell at a reasonable price. Tear down tin; building and erect a now one on same site, only have the building to front on 3rd Avenue (running from Thompson's lot to lake), purchase a suitable site on the lake and erect a jail on it. This would give ample room for a court house and grounds and let the building stand on the square 'our forefathers selected for it, and we think tVat this fact, coupled with a due regard for the interests of property owrers in t hat immediate section of the town should be sufficient grounds to prevent the removal of the court house to now quarters. hot those who may contemplate entering tin? race for County Super* vis it' this Fall get estimates of the cost of these proposed changes, ?&e., and thus be able to explain to the voters, at the campaign meetings, where the new court house would be erected, and the approximate Cost of the undertaking; the people would then be able to decide whether or not they would be willing for the county to assume the debt, and - I' doubtless many would vote lb favor of the enterprise under this plan, who would ivfrain from doing so. when the nmouut is indefinite, and I the whole matter left entirely Lu the discretion of a few men. We submit this as an oil hand opinion along the lines indicated, and would bo tr'ad if others would ex press themselvcs through thellKtt ai.D, as it is a matter of mvieh importance to the people of .our county. We would say however, that to execute above plan, or any other that might be considered a better one, we need to elect a lirst class man County Supervisor this Kail. Kon KC AST.
