Judo-in# from the public prints, this is the sum and substance of the President's visit to the Kxposit'.on Tin: Georgetown papers, a week or t wo ajjo. had State Senator Walker a candidate for congress, whether he would or not. The Senator came out la t week and stated that he is not a candidate and has had no notion of beinjjj. Ah well! News papers will get things wronjj sometimes in spife of everything. ?.1 i Tim newspapers now be^in to be full of political notes. The Manors! of the. sixth congressional district continue to1.speculate about the race for congress. They are intent upon bringing out all the candidates the\ can whether the candidates si ml a ghost of a show or not. W e note with pleasure Congress man Scarborough's activity in se curing rural mail routes for this section. Nothing is more desirable to the man of intelligence than to have his trail in easy reach, and in creased mail facilities make men more intelligent and better citizens. I ?Pee Dee Advocate. In the Sixth District the race for Congress will be lively. The latest ones mentioned as possible eandi ( dates are J. Monroe Johnson of Marion, and T. W. Houchcr of lien- : ncttsville. I tli Mr. Johnson and Mr. Bouchci re able lawyers and if ' they enter th race will have a good following. \ 111 the entry of these two, there wiL 've candidates for < Congress from I ..U district. ? Week ly Mail. ] I On next Tuesday the people of ' Horry County will have the oppor tunity of visiting one of the grandest expositions ever held in this , country. One thing that contrib- : utes to make it interesting to the 1 people of this State is the fact that it is their exposition-?an enterprise projected by South Carolina people. The very low rah* for the round trip olTcred by the railroad, places the Exposition within reach of ev cry body, and those who do not attend will miss the best opportunity they will ever have to visit an exposition. It may be a life time before this State is again the. reene of a magnificent exposition, in fact it inn i.' 1^" At*-- i ? A ...?J WVu n u nope 10 sue a large crowd get oft on tho 22nd. The trip promises to be a success in every respect. Wn commend the course of (lover nor McSweeney in his prompt action to prevent the prize fight at the Exposition. In such cases it is the duty of the Governor to act and to act at once. We desire to see the Exposition a success, and would do everything we could, that is right and proper, to help it along, but. when it eoines to a scheme of this kind in order to draw a crowd there, it is time to draw the line. The idea of a prize light is repulsive to the better class of people every where, under any circumstances, and to use such means to increase the crowd at the Exposition, would increase the di gust in the public mild. There are people who wil ^ Will ' 1 spend lots of money ami travel many milvs to s ?e a prize fitfht, l>ut we are not one of this class. Murrells Inlet Items.
