Conway Bargain Mouse, has made
arrangements to rent two of the)
new store rooms now being finished
upon Main Street, and will remove
its large stock of general merchandise
to the new quarters as soon an

will have both a grocery and a dry
goods department.
As the train was taking on wood
at Adrjap last Friday night, one
John Casque, who was voluntarily ;
helping the hands with the work,
tell from the pile of wood on the 1
platform to the ground, striking
upon his head. It was thought, at
first that he was s riously hurt, but
he appeared to be alright the next
morning

wharf, driving the piles for an extension
of the wharf. Several weeks

When the work is linishod, the
wharf will extend all the way from

Gen. J. P. Derhnm arrived in Com
way last Thursday to be present at
the annual settlement between the
Auditor and Treasurer of the eoun
ty The settlement took place on
Thursday afternoon, the foreman of
the grand jury being present as required
by law. The accounts acre
all found straight by the officers
mentioned.
The general manager of the Atlantic
Coast Lino, J. If Kenlcy, was to
have met the Hail road Commission
in Columbia lust week, in reference
to taking off the pa songor train
here. Hon. Ilobt. H. Scarborough,
telegraphed the commission that he
could not he present if they held the
meeting last week, and requested
them to pospono the meeting until
Fair week w'c have not heard from
them but suppose the hearing will
be arranged for some time in the
near future. I
There was a quiet home wedding
last Sunday at 10 o'clock, at the
homo of W. I). Moore near Port
Hnrrclson, the contracting parties
being Miss Bcssio Moore and Mr.
John If. McCaskill. The bride is
one of the most charming young la
dies of that section. Mr. McCaskill
is the efficient Marshall of the to wn
of Conway. Thoy are at present
boarding at the Commercial Hotel

Vernon (1 raiuger, son of the late
(.'apt. Levi (1 rainier, of the VVnnainuker
section died at the iioine of
his mot her last .Saturday, Oct. lbth,
in the twenty second year of his
age, after an illness extending over
several week's.
Mr. Hrainger had been in (Jeorgia
employed in a mercantile business
for a year or two. He was taken
sick there and on the advice of his
physician returned home some weeks
ago to be nursed.
He w?n in good spirits, seemed to
ue improving, and was laying his
plans to take charge of iiis farm
next yea rather than return to his
situation in (Jeorgia. His constitution
had been undermined by continued
fever, and his improvement was
slow. On Saturday morning he be
came suddenly worse and died in a
stale of collapse within a half hour
of his attack and before a physician
could bo summoned. During his illness
he had expressed perfect resignation
to Hod's will, but had no
thought that he would die. He
looked forward to coming yeat s,
full of purpose and hope. A noble
young life lias been closed forever,
I but his frit ?idt feultha^ he is at rest,
and lnj^ but paid his part of our
'common debt. He was buried at
the (J rainger burial ground on the
day after his death in the presence
o! a large crowd of sorrowing
friends.
