Sucn characters as that of C/.olgovz
arc never produeed by neeidt at
but arc the result of improper usso
ciulions, and the reading of bad lit

parents was always well supplied
with anarch's.ic literature.
That Leou Czolgos/. felt some remorse
at the thought of his terrible
deed is shown by his manuer when
he win carried into court to receive
his sentence The weak. faltering
voice, dilated eyes, pale face, and
trembling hard were evidences of
the awful distress he felt
A supplement is ^cnt out with this
issue, containing a write-up of the
great Olyinpia cotton mill at Columbia,
S C It is pronounced by competent
mill people to be the most
complete, up to-date and promising
cotton manufacturing plant i* the
country, and is said to be the largest
cotton factory under one roof in
the world. Some of our reader* will
perhaps find it interesting reading
"* In last issue there was a call,
signed by three of our citizens, asking
the farmers of the county to attend
a meeting to bo held at the
court house next Monday, immediately
after the adjournment of court
for dinner. The purpose is to awaken
interest in agricultural affairs,
the establishment of a county fair,
annual picnics for the farmers and
other things of like nature.
We would like to see this meeting
well attended. While our farmers,
doubtless, know a great deal about
the best methods .. 1 tilling the soil,
rotation of crops, and the planting
of those crops best suited to the soils
of their farms, yet it is never too
late to learn more about the*;
thing*. They can learn by getting
together and listening at the experiences
of others. At u county fair
they could exhibit the results of experiments
in different sections of
the county. At this time, a county
fair, if we had it, would materially
assist iu getting up an exhibit for

Legislation Versus Anarchy.
Perhaps it wquld In* a surprise to
the American mind to know the real
extent and growth of anarchy and
anarchistic organizations in the United
States during the past few
years. But there is no telling to
what extent the evil has spread
It is known that societies exist and
hold regular meetings in many of
our towns and cities.
In u country like this, whose doors
have been open to the scum of the
countries of the old world, such associations
as these and kindred evils
are perhaps to be expected. The
great army of the discontented of
Asia and Europe, have been pouring
into this country in at< unceasing
stream. Discontent and rebellion is
a part of .the nature of some of
these people.
The assassination of President
McKinley by an anarchist, is enough
to warn the nation of the dangerol
