Yet, results are not hulf<so bad as it was thought they would be earlier in the year. Crops recovered wonderfully from the drouths in the West and from the ctTects of wet weather in the East. The gloom which had settled down has in a great measure cleared away. We are not prepared to say that the tobacco acreage in llorry has increased this year over last, but it is apparent to any observer, who vis its the Warehouse, that the industry has much improved in one respect? the ulanters have learned m,. about the weed, know better how to cultivate it and prepare it for market. The quality of the tobacco sold here is much above that which was sold here two years ago. I in provement is the order of the age und we are glad to see it in this as in other things. A great number of so called church members, and even some ef the recognized leaders will go around like I lerodias and her daughters on a hunt for a preacher's head. ? Slander to them , is, sweet, like rosewuter. If y preacher opposes crime or rnttg doing in the church' or community the offenth rs and others equally as iruiltv because ihev I uphold it., go for hi . giving him vinegar mingled with gall, calling him a devil. When these people get into t rouble and want the preacher's ' advice or wish the preacher to ae commodate them, thev will call him brother and say. Oh brethren, we have the best pastor in the world! Their tongues are smooth, but under them is the poisou of asps. "He that hideth hatred with lying i lips, an.I he that uttereth a slander, ic a fool." O. W. K Adrian Items. 1 i 11. K.
