Tim wonder of the century is the
inan who pays all of his bills without
being dunned.
One of the improvements which
Conway should have sooner or later
is a telephone system connecting all
the different sections of the county.
There's a certain class of people
that will not work and obtain an
honest living. It is this that tills
the penitentiaries and chain gangs
of the country.
The sales of furniture by the merchants
of Conway has remarkably
increased during the last two years
judging from the quantity unloaded
at the depot and wharves.
.Just when it is least expected,
some swindlei >nios through and

In response to a published call of

Vhe rod-call showed present many
of tbc Town diip Cointni >sioners, as

representing almost every section

Chairman Quuttlcbuuin presided
and made an address in which lie

the West India Islands.
It was to furnish a medium by

agriculture and manufacture, and to
display the wonderful resources and
natural advantages of our country.
He gave some figures showing what
was being done by other Stales in
i the Union; what our State had
i done, ?appropriated $00,(100, ?what
i Charleston wu.s doing, and what the
iother counties of this State were
doing.
Finally the necessity and extreme
niportanee of I lorry county having
a place in this industrial picture
Secretary Spivey explained some
of the difficult ies the Commissioners
anticipated, and accordingly had do
eided on the plan of organizing ciuli
Township by having at least three
representative and energetic eiti
zens to assist in working up ascnti
! meat in f.wor of the Kxposition, and
to aid in collecting funds and materials
necessary. The obj? et ol
l-his meeting was to perfect this organization
and t<> determine on
some plan of action.
Hon. J. A. MeDcrmolt said that
there were time things to be d.'ci
ded: 1st. Shall Horry have an ex
hibit? 2nd. Ilow much funds wilt
we nocd? drd. IJow .shall wc raise
it?
He expressed himself as strongly
'advocating the lir.vt proposition
alid stated that wc ought to raise
$1000, and must have at lea-it $000 to
attempt ar. kind of a display.
Capt .1 Fi Ooles heartily endorsed
the enterpri e and suggested that
each Township Hoind constitute it
self a canvassing board and 1 litis de

i Mr. P. C. Prince made a forceful
( speech in which he said 1 lorry conn
ly could not utVord to niUs this op
portunity. and if all our c'lizcns fell
us ho did, the Independent Lepub
lie would not fail to take first prize
in the county exhioits. He knew
that Horry could if she would.
Mr. Geo. .1 Holliday enthusiastically
supported the Exposition >11 a
neat speech in which he guaranteed
that Gallivunts Ferry would be
found in line doing her duty.
Soeastee was represented by Mr.
13. H. Stalvey who pledged her loyalty
to the undertaking.
Hon. Jure Mishoo reiterated his
stand as he championed its cause
on the lloor of the House of Representatives*
Mr. C. C. Suggs wished Little River
to be recorded us doing her
share in the matter, while Mr. J. D.
Watson spoke for Dogwood Neek.
Hon. Jere Smith urged the importance
of early and immediate action.
1 The sentiment of the meeting was
i against assessing any one or any
township, but it was resolved to ask
each townshil) to raise :it leswt ?r?o
or more.
The Commissioners were asked to
canvass the mat'or and report at a
- meeting here on 1st .Monday in May.
. (If not in May, then Sulesduy in
. JvllC.)
On motion of Mr Holliday, Gen.
I?. W. Moies the State canvasser,
was invited to address our citizens
here on first Monday in May.
I The Secretary reported that he
was in possession of numerous let
ters from other members statin#
their inability to be present, bat
tn.it they had enlisted in the work
and stood ready to assist in anyway.
Bucks. Bayboro and Green Sea
were all represented by letter.
The meeting adjourned amid expressions
of satisfaction at the re?
suit of the consultation?the concen,
sus of opinion being that the outer
prise for Horry had made a good
beginning, and that the prospeei
for ultimate success was indeed
' promising.

Youi\cj Women
The entry into womanhood is a
criticAi time for a girl. Little menstrual
dis orders started at that time soon
grow into fatal complications. That
temale troubles are filling graveyards
proves this. Wine of Cardui establishes
a painless and natural menstrual
low. When on*e this important function
is started right, a healthy life will
usually follow. Many women, young
nd old, ov/e their lives to Wine of
Cardui. There is nothing like it to
give women freedom from pain and to
fit voung women for every duty of life.
