John II. Smith was born March
10th 1870 and died January 2nd 1001.
being in hi* thirty-first year. He
was married September 22nd 1800
to Miss flattie Jenrette, and she
with one child, his aged mother, one
brother and three sisters survive
him. He accepted Christ as hi.- Saviour
several years ago and united
with the Antioch Baptist church
where he continued his membership
until his death and his body was the
first one laid to rest in the church
yard of the new church, only recently
opened for worship. He ever
lived an exemplary christian life,
taking .in active part in the Sunday
School, prayer imeting and all the
services of the sanctuary. He had
been confined to Ins room for nearly
five momths previous to bis death
and had sufTcrod much, but his sufferings
are now over and he is to-day
resting on
