to one year in the penitentiary,
and the boy was likely to become a
charge upon the county, hence the
Judge and Solicitor recommended
that he be bound bv tin; Supervisor
lo some one able to feed and clothe
him for his work.
Last year I set out strawberrys
as late as December and a fair
crop of berries on such varieties as
Clyde. Ilismurk and Drandyvvino.
Lady Thompson should be set out in
September and October, not later
than November 15th , the earlier the

at Fall term in the year 1898 and ,
sealed sentence entered against him
was brought into court and his sentence
published. Fine of $100.00, of
imprisonment at hard labor for the |
period of four months.
The State vs. Aneol Bridges. Drs.
Dusenhury and Norton certified that
flump Grainger (who was shot last
Spring by Bridges) was not yet out
of danger, and the solicitor had tie
ease continued so that he might '

Grainger dies of his wound within a

The State vs. VV. Jesse Bennett,

Barnhill, assault and battery with
intent to kill was next called. The
defendant W. Jesse Bennett not being
in court, the case was placed on

Hon. J. A. McDermott, our popular
senator, honored us with a visit
last week which is appreciated.
The senator expressed himself us being
in favor of biennial sessions of
the legislature.
Constable S. F. IJourne has captured

thief who stole the bicycle from this
olace last week, but failed to get the
bicycle, Mr. IJourne states that one
Turbeville had the wheel and ran it
into North Carolina.
We are glad to be able to ;state
that Mrs. J. 1). Oliver who has been
quite sii k with fever, is up again.
