It seems that he and a negro were playing with a piece of narrow belting by throwing it over the shaft to see it roll up, or some other unaccountable purposdand it is alleged that the negro pushed Hal too near the shaft while the belt was rolling up ami the holt caught iiais arm and wrenolicd itfroin his body lacerating tho tissues very severely. The flesh on the underside of bono was ' torn away to the axillary space, leaving two or three inches of humerus exposed. This was sawed oil ami sewed up making a fair stump. The tearing of the blood vessels prevented much hemorrhage, otherwise the number and size of blood vessels in vol veil he could not have lived many minutes. He lived until II p. in.. Thursday. His friends think there was foul play on part of negro ami have demanded an investigation by Coroner. The result of the Coroner s inquest was that the killing was accidental ?the negro and young Anderson i were playing and came too near the (shaft and the belting caught both, carrying the negro over once tearing off his sleeve. When he extricated himself he tried to release young | Anderson. J Mr. Nolley's Departure. We regret to have to announce that our esteemed fellow-townsman, Mr. K. W. Nolley, who has been for several years the editor of this pa per. has decided to leave us and take , up his residence in Fayettcville. N. . He has been a resident of our town for about twenty years The major portion of his tune, he has been in the employ of Burroughs & Collins. 11 is connect ion with that large mercantile house brought him in contact with people from all sections of the county and his friends arc legion j his enemies, few. The people among whom heroes will il d el him a eoui tly, christian gentleman, -a elean, up-right man, unci one whom they will soon learn to love and esteem as ' we of this community have. Our regret at losing the family of i Mr. Nolloy from both church and social circle is not less keen that that > felt at losing Mr. Nolloy himself. We hope for him a successful busi ; ness career in the home of his adop tionand pleasant surroundings for i his family, and should business or pleasure briny him or them to our midst again, there will be a warm welcome awaiting them.
