The Convention was declared open
for business and Mr. 1). A. Spivoy
was recognized. Mr. Spivoy offered
the following resolutions:
"Whereas, the Executive Committee
of the Democratic machinery of
our county have permitted to be
held, under the management of a
self-constituted committee, a primary
(or a series of conventions) in which
less than 200 voters participated and
from which over eleven hundred true
and tried Democrats were excluded;
and
"Whereas, enraged and disgusted
with this, together with other undemocratic
proceedings, over twothirds
of the Democratic voters of
the County refrained from participation
in the recent primaries; and
"Whereas the said Executive Com
uiittee have failed to comply with
and enforce the rules governing said
primaries, and have declared certain
candidates, who have not been legally
chosen in said primaries, to be
the regular nominees of tiie party;
now therefore be it
'Hesolved, that we us true loyal
and uncompromising Democrats do
declare our continued allegiance to
true Democratic principles as enunciated
by the last National Democra!
tic Convention and do hereby repudiate
all platforms and principles in
variance with sound Democratic
ftriuciples; and denounce all irregtir
lir apd undemocratic proceedings
praoticed by the Executive Ooinm ttee
