COURT WKRR CROWD.
The crowd attending Court this
week is very large. There were

beginning of the week.
Several rows have been started,
but nothing of damage except to

The Pride of Ohina tree just hy
the j?ost office was blown down. It
has boon cleared away.
A mockorange tree in the Veroen
JLoel yard is lying flat.
The sign of S. A. Dusenbury was
blown down.
A pretty oak tree on the side of
the turntable switch embankment
was blown down.
A Pride of China tree was blown
over against the north oast end of
Prof. R. R. Clark's residence?no
great damage done.
Several bricks?twenty five or
thirty?were blown from the North
corner of tho jail. They had been
cracked away by a tree falling during
the August storm.
Two of the piazza posts under Mr.
\V. 10. J lard wick's residence wore

The nogro Methodist Church is
blown from its blocks. The steeple
camo off in the fall and the house is
badly warped. It cannot yet be ascertained
whether it can be replaced
without a start from tho very foundation.
Churches Damaged.
In going from Conway to Murrell's
Inlet, tho IIkrai.i> correspondent
found on the route five churches
demolished by tho storm. In the
edge of town the colored Methodist
Church has been blown from its
blocks, the steeple thrown off and
tho body of the building badly racked.
At Hucksvilie tho colored
Methodist Church cs fiat on the
ground* At Socastee tho Baptist
(whites) is completely demolished.
About two miles north of Marlows
tho colored church, Mt. Zion, is torn
all to pieces. At Brook Green, the
colored Church, St. Michaels is
wroeked entirely.

Thy Court of Genoral Sessions
convened at Conway on Monday, Oct
1G, 1893. Judge T. 11' Fraser was
presiding judge; Solioitor Johnson
and Stenogropher Covington were
also present. The cases disposed of
were as follows:
The State vs. John Glover for
assault and battery was nol, proa.
The State vs. Thomas It. Gerald
for disposing of property under a
loin was also nol, pros.
The State vs. Thos. J. Buffkin
and Malinda for fornication was continued.
- The State vs. George Shaw for
murder was also continued, the de
fondent not being arrested.
The State vs. Jesse 10. .Tnrdun for
incest: In this cast* a sealed sontonco
against Jordan was found.
The sentence was for 12 monts hard
labor in State Penintentiary and a
fine of $500.
The State against Ebenezer Iluggins
for malicious trespass: A seal
ed sentence was opened and Iluggins
sent to tho penitentiary for three
months.
The State vs. Joel E. II. Grainger
for aggravated assault and battery
was continued.
Tho State vs. Vergil Moore for
foigery was continued.

aiding a prisoner to escape was not
pros.

The State vs. Kb. Hoggins and
Jane Hoggins for administering poison
was tried. .Jane Hoggins was
found guilty and sent to the State
penitentiary for three months, hard
labor, sentence commencing with the
expiration of the 2 years sentence
mentioned above.
The State vs. Kbone/.er Ilnggine
for bigmany was continued, the defondant
having plenty to amuse him
now for some time.

Fowler was tlie scene of a happy
gathering. The occasion Mas the
marriage of Mr. John Tyler to Miss.
Rebecca Edge. Jas. M. Dortnan,
Notary Public performed tlio hymenial
rite with the grace and dignity
of a bishop.
The invited guests did ample justice
to the delicious wedding supper
sst before them. After this, all departed
for their homes, leaving behind
them many hearty well-wishes
for the newly made husband and
wife. And, no doubt, many whispered
softly to themselves "How long!
old how long before I too shall join
the happy throng that rejoice in the
bonds of matrimony."

S. C., Sept. 22nd, 1893, Mrs. Mary
Elizabeth Rarnhill, wife of John Mi
Barnhill. She was born in Ilorry
County, S. C., Juno 12th 1831. She
joined the Methodist Church when
rpiite young, but never profossed religion
until about eight years before
her death, when she was happily
converted 1o God at Kehoboth under
the ministry of Rev. W. 13. Raker,
trom which time she grow day by
day stronger in tho faith of her Lord
and Saviour Joans Christ. She
loaves a husband, two daughters and
four sons to mourn thoir loss, but
their loss is her eternal gain.
