This is almostlike annihilating distance. On account of the death of his wife's father ltev. J. II. Dixon will no^fill the appointment in the Presbyterian Church next Sunday, but Iter. H. B. Zornow, of Marion, has kindly consented to take his place, bo there will be preaching in town on Sunday. His sermon was interesting and instructive, the subject beiug the body aud members of Christ. Rev.?Vass represented the Oonie Maxwell Orphanage located at Greenwood in a practical and stirring talk. The South Carolina Conference is in session in Charleston this week. This is the time that tries preacher's souls and shows the character of the materials of which they are made. Several changes in appointments will necessarily bC made iu Horry, some pastors having served the legal limit. Smith & Burr of Howard, S* 0. on the 17th inst. about 12 o'clock P. M. and burned about 30,000 feot of kiln dried lumber, besides some two or time thousand feet green lumber. They had about forty thousand more feet on tho yard which was saved by the strenuous efforts of about 20 men with buckets and water. The night was very calm, otherwise all the lumber would have been consumed, especially bad tho wind blown briskly from the South. Mr. II. II. Boltan living at N.'ullins S. C. is very much distressed at the conduct of liis wife. She has left him without provocation and has taken his two sons aged respectively 13 and 11 years. He has a father's affection for his sons and desires them to be trained to some useful employment instead strolling over the coountry begging for subsistence, and ho especially desires the good people of Horry to assist him in getting them. Mr. lloltan is a poor man but has Considerable intelligence and seems disposed to act the part of a father to his chiluren ami husband to hi* wt?yward and misguided wife, and we do hopo the people of Horry will lend him the necessary assistance for him to get charge of them, the boys particularly. And till persons are forbidden to give shelter or employment to any of them as tl?e law will be enforced against such persons. Marion papers are requested to copy. Some time ago, was in conversation with one of Hor ry's most responsible citizens and on< of Bayboro's leading brethren on i religious topic which asked mo if knew anything about a certain siste living in the Camp Swamp neighbor hood who has recently been divinel; cured? I lold him that I did, thut had not long since visited her, whei she was scarcely able to walk acroa the house. "Well," said he, yo? have heard that she has been cured have you?" "Yes," said I, "and ! am so glad of it." Said he; "Brothe: Dusenbury, if you know these thingi to be so, 1 want you to fix up a piec< for the IIkrai.d and let the publit know it, for I have told a few peoph of it since I heard it and; some seen to doubt it." 1 promised to comply with his request and wrote to sistei C. and have it from her own pen Shesays: "I have been siok for uboul 18 months with) disease that all the doctors have failed to name that J have tried. It took the almost en tire use of my tongue and so disable* me that I was hardly able to brusl the dust from the floor. We tried doctors at home, doctors in Wilmington and one in Atlanta, Ga., and from whom I received no benefit. Williams, and I requested the congregation to pray for me They did so, and Bro. B. G. Lewii and wife came home with me anc made special prayers fot ine. Bro Williams did the same and with al their prayers, together with my own I received the faith that the Lore would heal me. I began toimprovi and in three or four days I was nol on'y wholly sanctifmd but I had re ceivod such bodily improvements that notwithstanding, my hip disease which had troubled me from walking for several years, I could walk to nr neighbors one-half mile distant witl all ease; and now, praise the Lord, 1 atn able to do my cooking and houst work, and am happy both soul ant body."
