cause they could not vote. The Re- j

not in good condition. Several peopie
lost their votes either in the Federal

names could not be found on the '

have been informed that some of the i
managers boldly entered the names t

clearly illegal.
Cleveland is elected has sounded |
and resounded thoughout this broad !
land, bringing joy and gladness to (

to others. The Republicans seemed 1

trenched with an unlimited amount .
of moneyat their command, that they ]

than the vaunted soundness and '
strength of the Republican platform. '
The election of Cleveland met is a
retiiT'i to the simplicity and economy ,
of our fathers in the conduct of the <
Government. It menus conservatism 1
in administration, conservatism in '
expenditure and conservatism i" taxation.

The election of Cleveland has stirred
up tho office seekers in different (
sections. In some places aspirants ?
are reported as having petitions sign- *
ed preparatory to forwarding as soon t
as Cleveland is inaugurated next
March, Now, it does seem to us t
that this is unnecessarily precipitate t
and embarrassing. And there is t
likely to be engendered unpleasant
feelings between the factions in this 1
State on account of this patrotTage. '
The ascendent faction was originally >
opposed to Cleveland, but after his 1
nomination yielded a silent and up- 1
willing support, while the other fac. '
tion was Cleveland's constant and '
consistent supporters as well before (
ss after his nomination. The I'resi- (
dential favor in bestowing this patronage
may operate to widen the v
