in Lexington hist Wednesday night,
There were eight prisoners in jail
and all escaped except one who war
in an apartment with no communi
cation with the others. Four were
charged with murder, two of whom

The escape was effected by cutting a
hole through the wad large enough
to allow a man to squeeze through,
It is supposed the prisoners drowned
the noise of their work in making
the opening in the wall by singing.
The keys unlocking the "patent
cells" were by some means secured
and the cells unlocked, all the other
doors were found securely locked.
There is a suspicion that help was
obtained from outside. Sherif Drafts
thinks some man Secreted himself in
the jail and got the keys from Mrs,
Drafts room while she was asleep,
The Sheriff was not at home.
