Hazard, of (icorgetown, on Tuesday

night. Mr. Hazard's reputation as j
in accomplished speaker had preee |
led hi in, but we frankly eonfess that i
the audience that greeted hint on 1
Tuesday night was hardly prepared 1
for the grandeur and sublimity of ^
the address delivered. The effort
surpassed their most lively expecta- '
lions. It was exactly suited to the :
evasion and most appropriately and
Kerniaiiely followed the sermon on j
Sunday. It was a tine finished pro- <
iluction and cannot fail if accomplished
good. An attempted analy- ,
sis would spoil its beauty and symmetry
and we simply say it was eipial
to any commencement occasion.
At the conclusion of Mr. Hazard's
iddress the graduating class made
their gradualing speeches. The efforts
was very creditable indeed.

School and we hope each member
will rellect credit upon his Alma
Mater, remembering that her character
and good name is to a certain extent
conlidecl to his keeping.
All the exercises were plain, sim-i
!?le and unpretentious, no effort at
pageantry or display. The A cade
my was plainly but tastefully adorn-1
id, and everything else was in acjord.
The Burroughs School seems
to be on rising ground and we hope
thy successors of the present corps
if teachers will maintain and, if J
possible, raise it to a higher plane of |
prosperity and usefulness. The 1
Burroughs School is doing an excel- {
lent work for Horry, and we trust
the citizens generally will lend their
lid and influence to extend its advantages
and success.
