Mr. II. O. Tuton, lost a valuable
horse, last weok. This is quite a

the Charleston earthquake travelled
at the rate of throe miles a second,
reaches from Bermuda on one hand

The revival services in the Methodist
church closed last Saturday
night. The work of grace was deep
and powerful and reached nearly
every family in Conway. There was
little emotional demonstration, but
that quiet stillness in which God's
presence, if r.ot seen, was verily felt
and experienced. .Such a powerful
demonstration of God's pardoning
presence has not boon exhibited in
Conway within tho recollection of
this writer. The Spirit's influence
was wonderfully displayed at the be
ginning in reviving tho members c
the churon unci that put them ear
nostly to work for tho Master.

the "Republic,'' as the County of

joy himself while visiting Conway

traveling public two hotels are provided

ourselves at tho first named place,

satisfaction will surely bo given
. their patrons.
The buildings in the town are very
good and speak well for tho taste
and prosperity of tho people, but
' one, if not tho greatest, of the beauties
of the place is to be found in
the beautiful, the grand and majestic
live oaks to bo foumlym every street.
The Court House is a very neat
building, not quite so large as tho
buildings in other counties but is
ample for tho necessities of.that peo,
pie and on tho interior is nicely linlshad
and well furnished. To the

weeds and grass have covered the
yard about the jail and almost obliterated
the oath leading to its daor.

Though nearly, if not quite, two
" months have elapsed since the last
' sitting of their Court the jail is as
, yet without an occupant. So notori,
ous is the peace of tho people of
llorry that there is no necessity for
holding the "May Term" of Court as
there are almost no malefactors to
' tr|r, the law recognizing this com,
plies with tho State Constitution,
. j which requires the holding of threo
terms in each year, by a session in
' May of "one hour."
Conway can boast too just now of
; her boat or shipbuilding industries.
The third steel bottomed boat built
, in South Carolina is there now in
i process of construction. The boat

! their river fleet. Capt. Daggott, the

every one could have heartily shaken
I the hands of those who had contributed
so much to the pleasure of the
