Tho mail arrangements on tho \V.
C. & C.- Railroad are a littlo singular.
The very change the people of
Conway dosired in ordor to ensure
better mail facilities, the authorities
i persistently refuse to g - it, although
t two trains aro run every day. Tho
> fast mail train, as it is called, carries
no mail at all, but tho mails aro
transported by the fro:ght trnin
, which toaves Chadbourn at 0 A. M.
4 and Conway at 3.40 P. \f. We are
( not informed and cannot understand
why the mails are not transported by
the fast mail train which loaves Con
way at 10 A. M. and Chadbourn at 1
' P. M. This latter plan would bo
> decidedly proferable to tlio people of

A fino company of cavalry lias
been organized for sometime in Horry

was inspected yesterday bv
Adjutant and Inspector General
Bonham and presented a very creditable
appearance. The evolutions
were said by competent witnesses to
equal those of the Marion Men of
Winvnh, a cracked company. l,t.
Col. Sparkman and his Stall and Maj,
Buck were present and assisted in f
the inspection. Col. Sparkman and f
(ion. Bonham made short addresses, H
urging the importance of annual encampment
to accustom the soldiors j
to the discharge of camp duties and
bring them into personal contact and j
thus inspire an esprit ilc corps.
Both speakers referred to the In-j

His consequent unpopularity obliged
him to fly to England in 184S, but be
soon returned to take a seat in the
National Assembly.
In 1857 ho was appointed Regent
of Prussia owing to the insanity of
his brother, and succeeded to the
throne on his brother's death, January
2, 1801. The King sternly resisted
tho Constitutional nartv control

serted the prerogatives of the sovereign.
in this contest he was supported
by Bisinark, who became
prime minister September 22, 1802. j
The reorganization of tho army was j
