After the passage of resolutions thank
! ing the people of liennettsville for their
| hospitality, the Confereiice adjourned
with the benediction by the liishop.
The reports from the various charges
showed quite a healthy condition of affairs,
both in spirituality and finances. The
Sunday school report was particularly
i gratifying, showing that very great inter
] rsi is unmir iiiKon in mis orancn oi ( nun n
work. On the whole, Marion District is
alive to her responsibilities, and is endeavorinir
to meet all demands upon her. As
she is well-manned by an active, zealous,
consecrated corps of ministers, tinder tin*
leadership of that holy man of Ood, Dev.
A. .1. Stokes, we have no fears for her
future.
The District Conference was very successful.
The hospitality of the people of
Bennettsville, which is proverbial, was tin
' bounded, and in this respect, if in no other,
the Conference was a itTand success. The
j presence of iho Holy Spirit was manifest
at each meetmp, and the influence of the
1 Marion District Conference of 1887, will
doubtless be felt in time to come.

them a confident. The tattler is i
one of the posts of society. I le or i
she is a standing menace to all. |
Since the the days of the A post lei
James there is no record of any such
having been cured of the evil. "Kor
everv kind of beast and of birds and
of serpents, and of things in the sea,
is tamed, and hath been tamed of I
mankind; but the loneiio can no
man tame; it is an unruly evil full of
deadly poison."
"If any man otTend not in word'
the same is a perfect man." Let it
bo our daily aim to attain such a
hitfli and ennobling state of irrace.
"In all talk about persons let it be i
their merits that we hastyn to disclose,
their ^ood deeds that we triadly
unfold. In all discussion on char- j
acter let the oood come into prominence.
In all our uttered hopes for
the future lot our highest ideal r.?iceive
the emnhasis. Let truth and
i not error, lioht and not darkness,
love and not hate, he our themes.
So shall we increase and perpetuate
all that is "ood hy frank utterance,
while evil will decrease and disap-1
pear under the drapery of silence.''
