GOD KNOWS
THE LUTHERAN - VISITOR
God knows all about you—the
best and the worst of you. All
your weaknesses,, your strug
gles, your successes, your fail
ures, your joys, and your heart
aches are. open to the eyes of
Him with whom you have to do.
As Dr. Matthews beautifully
said in a recent sermon: “There
are many woes in the British
Empire with which the good
Victoria is unacquainted; but
there is one throne against which
every human perplexity beats in
such a manner as to provoke a
sympathetic response.” If you
are a sincere man, this thought
cannot fail to be a source of com
fort to you. Your fellow-men
may pass you by without any
notice at all, or If any design to
regard you may misconstrue
your conduct and misinterpret
your character; but your Father
in Heaven will never suffer you
to slip away from His observant
eye, nor judge you save in truth
and tenderness. Be courageous,
therefore, and confident in the
midst of even your most trying
difficulties.—Presbyterian Ban
ner.
FEEDING FOR HEALTH.
Directions by a Food Expert.
A complete change in food
makes a complete change in
body. Therefore if you are ailing
in anyway, the surest road back
to health is to change your diet.
Try the following breakfast for
ten days and mark the result:
Two soft boiled eggs. (If you
have a weak stomach, boil the
eggs as follows: Put two eggs
into a pint tin cup of boiling
water, cover, and set on the
stove. Take out in nine minutes;
the whites will be the consis
tency of cream and partly di
gested. Don’t change the direc
tions in any particular.) Some
fruit, cooked or raw, cooked
preferred, a slice of toast, a little
butter, four heaping teaspoons
of Grape-Nuts with some cream,
fccupof properly boiled Postum
pood Coffee.
‘ The Grape-Nuts breakfast food
is fully and scientifically cooked
at the factory, and both that and
|the Postum Coffee have the dias-
tefite (that which digests the
starchy part) developed in the
Manufacture. Both the food and
the coffee, therefore, are predi-
Rested and assist, in a natural
g'-
w ay, to digest the balance of the
food. Lunch at noon, the same.
For dinner in the evening use
meat and one or two vegetables.
Leave out the fancy desserts.
Never overeat. Better a little less
than too much.
If you can use health as a
means to gain success in busi
ness or in a profession it is well
worth the time and attention
required to arrange your diet to
accomplish the result.
FRANKLIN’S TOAST
Long after Washington’s vic
tories over French and English
had made his name familiar to
»
all Europe, says the Boston
Transcript Dr. Franklin chanced
to dine with the English and
French ambassadors, when, as
nearly as the words can be re
collected, the following toasts
were drunk: By the British
ambassador “England, the sun
whose bright beams enligten and

Consult your doctor. If he says take it,
then do as he says. If he tells you not

Leave it with him. We are willing.

pride, but too polite to dispute
the previous toast, drank,
“France, the moon whose mild,
