Vagaries of a Cold.

Died in Effininghamcounty, Ga.,
December 3, Mrs. Ella R Becking-
er at the age of 32 years^S months
and 26 days. In early life she
ratified the baptismal vows made
for her in infancy and lived a cun-
isistent member of Bethel Evangel
ical Lutheran churh. On the day
following her death in presence of
many sorrowing Relatives and
friends her remains were buried in
Bethel cemetery. May the God of
all consolation comfort^tbe breaved

The infant child of W. W. and
Mamie Conoway of Zioji Lutheran
congregation, Effingham county,
Ga., departed this life December
3, 1901, being only a few months
old. Those months were of in
tense suffering to the little one, as
it had never been well. The re
mains Were laid to rest in Zion
cemetery on the day following.
May the Lord comfort the bereaved

Mrs. Catharine Shatzer was born
September 9, 1&25, and departed
this life November 24, 1901, aged
76 years, 2 months and 15 days.
She had been a^m^iber of the
Lutheran church'ror several years,
lu her afflictions she enj >yed the
peace and consolations of the gos
pel. Her pastor preached her
funeral at Ridings Chapel Novem
ber 26tb, from 2 Cor. 5:6, and
laid her body to rest in the ceme
tery at Middletown, Va. May the
Lord help her friends left bn eurth
so to live- that with them absence
from the body will be presence
with the Lord.

Stephen City, Va.
Died suddenly in Rowan county,
N. C., Decmber 25,1901, Mr. Jacob
Misenheimer, at the age of 62 years,
8 months, 26 days. From early
life he had been a faithful and con
sistent member of St. Paul s Luth
eran church. He was an honest
and peaceable citzen, a kind hus
band and father, a bumble and un-
assmuing Christian. “Blessed are
the dead which die in the Lord.”
May the wife and children be com
forted with the woHd and promises

Miss Sarah Bowery died at her
home in Sullivan county, Tenn ,
December 13, 1901, aged 59 years.
She wa* a member of Immanuel
Lutheran church and died in the

Died in Graniteville, S. C , De
cember 18, 1901, Miss Marcilla F
Stony, aged 23 years, 9 months
and 18 days. She was a member
of St. James Evangelical Lutheran
church. Her remains were hid to
rest in the Graniteville cemetery

bereft father, brothers and sisters

After a brief illness with pneu
monia Mrs. Elizabeth Peeler de
parted this life December 28, 1901,
aged 64 years, 6 months, 18 days.
Mrs. Peeler bad long been a mem
bar of St Paul's church, and altho’
she had had many trials and sad
experiences, she never lost faith in
her Savior. She lived with her
son in-law Mr. Jacob Misenheimer
who preceded her to the grave
three days. Hence to that home
the Christmas time brought sadness
Two loved faces will be seen around
the fireside no more. But the be
reaved ones do not sorrow as those
that have no hope. May the God
of all comfort sustain them in this

Oa December 20, 1901, at 6 30
p. m., Dr L W. Coleman departed
this life at his home near Rock
well, Rowan county, N. C. He
was sick only a few days, pneu
monia being the cause of his death.
Dr. Coleman was born in Warren
county January 6, 1824, making
the days of bis years upon earth
77 years, 11 months and 14 days.
He was a good and faithful physi
cian and bad always enjoyed a large
practice and he will be greatly
missed in the community. As a
representative of public sentiment
in his neighborhood, as a member
of the board of county commission
ers, as husband and father, as
citizen and friend, as a physician
and philanthropist, as a church-
member and a Christian, he was
faithful. He leaves a wife and
one daughter, many friends and
acquaintances, who mourn* his
death. Funeral services were con
ducted from the residence on Sun
day aftemoon, December 22, by
the writer, after which the remains
were conveyed to the beantifnl
cemetery at Rockwell, where they
were temporarily interred. The
very large congregation that at
tended the fnneral and burial ser
vices, regardless of the very cold
weather, bore witness to the high
esteem in which Dr. Littleton Wil
liam Coleman was held by neigh
bors and friends. He was a mem
ber of St. Peter’s Lutberau church,
in which communion he died. Peace
to bis ashes.
