We copy the following from the
/Shenandoah Herald of the 25th of
December. The person mentioned
preached in different churches in the
Valley of Virginia. He is a German,
preaches quite fluently, and with a
good deal of aooefftonoe. The last
we heard of him he waa in Staunton,
Va., and spoke of going to Richmond,
Va. , What his real name is we know
not He claimed to be Rev. Dingle
dey, of Sydney, Ohio :
L An Impostor—About a month
ago, a traveling subject, represent
ing himself as Rev. J. Diogiedey, of
Sidney, Shelby county, Ohio, made
his appearance in this county and
part of the adjoining county of Rook-
ingham. Bat although I had no
personal interview with him, yet
from various things related to me
concerning him, I doubted the truth
of bis claim to being a German Lu
theran pastor and member of the
Joint Synod of Ohio, and being the
Rev. J. Dingledey, of Sidney, Ohio,
bat believed him to be an impostor,
whatever his real name might ha,
and WhAfevef he might ooaae from.
Accordingly, I Wrote to Rev. J. Din
gkaiey, of Sidney, RhoU* county,
Ohio, inquiring whether be had been
recently in this flow**. Hie answer,
unde* date of the 12th uast., is:

not even into the State of Virginia.*
This is the oily Lutheran minister
in America, according to the Clerical
