remained until 1:30 A. M.; I then
took passage on the regular mall
train from Savannah to Lake City.

took a south westerly course to Live
Oak, Fla., forty-eight miles, thence
east, by the Tallahaaaee ft Jackson

City, where we arrived at 6 A. If.
As we drew near the elty we wave

had never before seen, approached
as, aud, as if by instinct, Inquired if
“Parson M. was there,” to whom
w« replied, “Here is your maa.” Ms
thru informed us that ha had earn*
prepared to take ae to tbe seat of
Synod, that the other brethren bad
arrived the day before, and ae we
were absent they ooecitided that we
had aniseed connection somewhere,
and thought it beet to eosse for us
the uext day. No thanks to the
Telegraph, for oor dispatch did not
reach its destination, and I doubt if
it ever left the office at which it was
ordered. At all events, this Is the
first time we had aver traveled ahead
of the Telegraph.
Oor friend took us to his house
about nine miles distant, ami, after
a good break Hast of fresh fish aud
other good things of Florida, we
retired to rest a short time, and
then proceeded to the church, about
three miles distant, where we arrived
—too late for the Synodical eereaou,
but in ample time for the opening of
Synod, much to oor own gratifies
tion, and there enjoyed the friendly
greetings of brethren of the eleegj
and laity whom we had amt on
many a former occasion.

to say that this was one of the meet

attend ; the very elements seemed to
partake of the harmony that per
vailed, and did much to contribute

The meetings were well attended by
the members of tbe church sad the
citizens generally ; and tbe crowd in
attendance on the Lord's day was
sufficient evidence that Colombia
coairiy, Fla., at least that portion of
it in tbe vicinity of Bethlehem
church, is not a sparsely populated
country, especially wbea it la reasem

Mt. Tabor M. B. church by a meet
her of Synod.
The people of this rkftoity enter
tained the members of Synod with
great kindness and hospitality, so
much so, that, to jadge from the
universal satisfaction depicted to
ovary countenance, any future ap
plication from Bethlehem eboreh to
entertain the Synod of Georgia will
meet with a favorable response. The
•apply of oranges from the orchard
of “Uncle Billy,” which wets dally
mingled with the refresh menu dur
ing the intermissions, will long he
remembered by those who partook
of his kindness.
Upon the whole, oar brother, H.
W. B., has an interesting field, sad
we trust that his labors are appre
ciated by those for whose spiritual
welfare they are dispensed. The
field is large, and should net he
neglected. The people are ia very
moderate circumstances, but they do
what they can for their minister.
Bra B. ought to be sustained by the
Missionary Society, so ns to enable
him to extend hie labor* beyond hie
immediate charge. Beaidee, there
ought to be one or two more mlsskm
aries in Florida, to collect and or
gauixe the material w* have seat tee
ed about, and thus contribute to
the prominent establishment of the
Church of the Reformation in this
growing State.
