story of Queen Esther, mother, an

was the son of Ahaz, King of Judah.

Isaiah came to him and said, Bit
your house in order, and arrange all

turned his face to the wall and pray

The Lord said to Isaiah, ‘Tell Heze
kiah that in answer to bis prayer 1

When the prophet said this to Hose-
kiab the king didn’t believe him ex
actly, aud said, ‘How shall 1 be sure
of living so long r Then the Lord
caused the shadow on the dial plate
to go back ten degrees, at the re
quest of Hezekiah, to prove to him
that what he bad said should take
place. Then Isaiah ordered a poul
tice of figs to be laid upou the ear
buncle, and the king recovered, and
went up to the temple and worshiped
and praised God. During the reign
of king Hezekiah the king of As
syria came and encompassed the city
of Jerusaleib, and with a mighty
host and a great army of horsemen,
and a splendid equipment, he de
clared that ho would destroy the
city. He seut a messenger to tell
the inhabitants of what be would
do, and to warn them not to trust to
king Hezekiah to deliver them.—
When the king beard of the me#-
sage, he came down from the throne
and 1 put on sackcloth and ashes opon
bis head, and ordered the people to
prag to God for help. Tbeu be sent
to Isaiah aud told him to pray to
God for deliverance.”
