Commencement Exorcises of Staunton j: Female Seminary. These exorcises will bo held in the Lutheran church at Stouatou, Va on Tuesday evening, the 10th of Juue, at 8 1\ ML The friends of female education iii our Church sure cordially invited to be present. The address on the occasion will be de livered by the Uev. B. II. Hunt, of Philadelphia. M St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, Market. Va. New We spent several days, assisting the pastor of this church at a com thuniou meeting, (he 1st of April. We preached Saturday morning, which was the first eervice of the meeting. Though the season was busy, yet there was a large congre gation present to bear the word, aud to atteud to services preparatory to the Uoly Communion. At the same time fourteen persons were received into church, membership on protes sion of frith. On Hahtoth an uuu sually large congregation was pres ent, most of whom united in rtdebra Ung the lord’s Stopper. Brother Snyder's labors are being greatly blessed in bis whole charge. A short time, previous he held a situ iiar meeting at Mt. Jackson, assisted by Dr. p. F. Bittle, the efficient President of Roanoke College. Dr. B,'s preaching was most acceptable, calling forth from the'most intelli geut portion of that community the highest praise. Niue most valuable members were added to the church at that time. The Mt. Jackson congregation for some years seemed to be in a de cline, but there is quite an interest awakened there now, and both pas tor aiulj people feel greatly en couruged, : Brother Snyder has much to slim ulale lum in his field ridahor, and we trust that the present state of things are but as the first fruits of the incoming harvest lie has the confidence and love of his people to such a degree as to enable him to wield an influence for good, as few men cau. May tie Lord bless both pastor and people. M. Missouri Synod. T. I know there has been much abuse heaped qpou the Missourians by us in past yfars.
