We looked over the commencement exercises of Vaaaar with nnusual expectancy, for surely we thought from the unfolding of those virgin miuds some Christian sweetness must How. Bnt alas! even at Vassar, Herbert Spencer aud Charles Darwin are reigning deities. We looked for some such theme as “The lufluence of Christianity in elevating Womau,” but wo found “The Crisis,” which related to wo man’s social position. We confess that it compels us to stagger with mingled udmiratiou aud astonish meut to read essays from youug ladies ujiou “The Conversation of Thought,” “Evolution as a reason able Hypothesis.” We wonder what is becoming of us poor ministers when young women declare iu pub lic that the literal interpretation of the Bible is pernicious, ami strive to elevate reaaou above faith. A Ministers Aid Society.—In the New York Miniaterinm It is proposed to form a “Ministers Aid Society • A committee appointed to draw up s plan, presented the following before the Conference * “According to the plan presented by the committee, each congrega tion, with its pastor, is to pay $10 yearly, at least, into the food. Every pastor taking charge of a congrega tion of the Ministerium, is to pay $10 as hia first yearly contribution. In cane of sickness or old age, incapari taring him from work, u minister shall receive $150 a year for himself, $30 for his wife, and $12.50 for each child noiler 14 years of age, unless the latter be educated gratis in an institution.
