Hcury Ward Beecher closes an ar
ticle in the New York Ledger, on
letter writing, with the advice ;
Do not begin a letter with an apol
ogy or an explanation. Time is pre
cious. Letters are multitudinous.

eat it. .State your business in the
first line. Then, when yon have
stated the business, you run go on,
if yon wish,' with explanations and
apologies, which the receiver can

or ten reasons why, the receiver does
