Increase of Church** in ifm York City.—The New York Herald con tains a table showing the relative increase of clinrchee among the dif ferent denominations in the city of New York. The Methodist Rfttaro- pal denomination had the largest increase in the number of iU church ea; the Homan Catholics come next, and then the Lutherans. In the year 1830 there were but three Lu theran churches in New York city, now there are fourteen or fifteen. Wooster, Ohio.—The following item we clip from the Wooster (O.) Repub lican ot February :19th .* Last Sabbath was a day of great interest to the Eugliah Lutheran church of thin city, of which Kev. H. L. Wiles baa recently become pastor. At an early hour, the bouae was filled to Its utmost capacity, extra seats having been placed wherever room could be found. After some timely instruction* had been given to the yoong converts by the pastor, fifty-one persons were admitted to membership, all by baptism sod con flrmaUos. Sixty persons professed a hope in Christ during the meeting. The meetiug still ouoUoaed. This .•mattered congregation, which has so loug been without a pastor, has been gathered, united, revived, strength ened, and greatly encouraged, and is certainly in a most prosperous con dition.
