Poor little Jaukey! Only be a

an Visitor shan't scare him. But do
not bear malice, it makes you fed
badly, and ia not- good for the
soul.
Richmond Mission.—Ws are glad
it is again supplied, and with a
workman whose labors in other flehls
the Lord has so abundantly blessed.
We hope Bra. Ileukfe will send us
either the whole of bis “introductory
sermon,” or anyhow those “parts”
referred to in Bro. bosh's article.
But is it not a cry ing shame that
the General Synod, South, does not
support that mission f It should be
done, and it can be done, if we only
had a few lire meu among ns. Ws
(lo not trust in the Lord, nor do we
confide in ourselves, aud we are
therefore feeble, and we do nothing.
Nay* there is even a disposition to
look away from the Lord, ami to let
others do the work that we should

among ns who put their trust in

Yes, and what is to become of .us,
now Dr. Siess threaten* to withdraw
his arm, to withhold his assistance,
and to leave ns to ourselves, aniens
we gratify him, aud do exactly as he
wants us to do f We, and others,
no doubt also, thought that money
he claims to have lavished on the
South was freely given for the honor
and glory of God, aud the boildiug
up of the Evangelichl Church ; but
we begin to doubt the motive. Any
how, it seems to ns that Dr. Sics*
now thinks that we are under obliga
tions to obey him implicitly, because
we have accepted money of him ; in
other words, because be has bought
ns.
Miss Mlssou.—A friend writes: “I
beard her sing last night, and am so
perfectly carried away, that 1 write
to urge yon to go to see ber and
hear her at Charleston, where she
will slug on Saturday and Monday
evenings next. Hbe is a Swede, you
know, aud of course a Lutheran.
You can speak her language, I pre
sume ; if not, she speaks both Ger
