This little Synod has a Missionary
Society, which raised #252, which is
doing a great deal better than tho
great majority of the older and
larger Synods. Revs. 8hep[Kird and
Morgah were appointed to visit a
colony of Lutherans living in Cal
houn County, and hold a teu days*
meeting. This is a measure truly
apostolic, ami we would like all our
Synods to udopt it.
The ne*t Synodical convention
will tie held at Lutlier chapel, Scott
County, Saturday before tlie second
Sunday in Oirtober, 1870.
An extra Synodical session was
held in Smith, December 4th, 1869,
for the purpose of establishing a
school, to be under Synodical con
trol and snpefvirion. Tlie prospects
favorable, and New Hope church,
Attala County, will probably secure
tire loeatiou of the school. A com
mittee was' appointed to solicit ad
ditional fend*.
