He. was therefore well known to
all classes of our community. His
habitual good humor aud clutvacter-
istic wit made him a general favorite,
and always secured a welcome Lu thi'
social circles. Possessing a rare
degree of mnsicsl talent, he bad been
a valued meauber of vurions musical
associations of WinchcsU r, tin last
of which was the Mozart Sm-irty.
He was also Ichder of the cltolr of
the Ev. Lutheran Church, for a long
period prior to the war; and until
his last illness, was accustomed to
lead the siugiug of tlieir private and
