Gehenna is the word iu the New

place of the torment, to which the
souls of the wicked go—-‘the ever

Paradise is the place to which tlie
spirits of the righteous {kiss at death.
The .word Hades, iu moat places,
includes the idea of the entire world
of departed spirits, whether happy

In striving at a correct under
standing of the idea to be attached
to the clause in the creed referring
kr Christ’s descent into hell, we must
remember that the Apostle’s Creed
was written not originally in English,

la addition to the import of the

the true meaning of the passages ill
the Scriptures on which the doctrine
of 'Christ’s descent into hell rests.
