Maryland. '
Th.-re is no doubt that if a vote were
taken to-day in Maryland, free from the
power of the Federal standing army, she
would unite herself, by sa ovsrwhslming
majority, to the Southern Confedereey,
We are sure, from sources of information
in which we have, complete confidence,
that Maryland Is sonrd to tho core on
bo ? ( ! ?fHv?uun mo any, and only
needs the opportunity to demonstrate it
in the most significant manner. The
orucltiea and indignities heaped upon her
true-hearted sons by the Lincoln despotism
hare only consolidated the pnblio
sentiment of the State in the moat rigid
resolution, and when the day eomes,
woe to tho foreign and domestic tyrants
who hare fastened chains upon her noble
limbs. Woe to the traitors at home and 1
the imported Yankees who hare aided in
the work of tying her hands and feet!
There is not on this continent a more
patriotic and beroio race of men than the
genuine old Maryland atock, and it is
only becsuso they are without arms and
orerwbelmed wish numbers that they
do not rindieate their glorious name from
the outrages it has suffered, lint the
day will come. Maryland is a slumbering
