Addresses by Smith and Hyatt. Tho Marlboro Cotton Growers As uociation held an interesting and en thusiastic meeting in the Court House Monday and addresses were made by Hon. E. D. Smith, president of the South Carolina Division and financial agent of the Southern Cotton Grower? Association and by Treasurer F. H Hyatt of Columbia The addressei wero timely aud well received. Tin meeting waa a grand success and will go far in improving tho condilion ot our farming interests if no more. If the other counties do SB well as Marl boro success will surely crown the efibr 8 now being made to hold cotton already made and to reduce tho crop of 1905, ns well ns to encourage the making of our broad and meat aup p'ies at homo Air. Smith left on tho evening train for Rockingham. MASS MEETING. NOTICE is hereby given that there will he a Mass Meeting of the Dem ocratic voters of the Town of Ben noltBville in the Court House at 4 p. m., on Friday the 7th day of April, 1905, for tho purpose of nominating n Mayor and four Aldermen to serve the Town of Bennettaville for the term of two years, and also nominate two citizens ns members of the Board ol the Board of Public Works for the Town of Benneltsville to serve one for -1 years and one for (5 years. J3y resolution of Council P. A. HODGES, Mayor Mareil 27, 1905. Tho Guards Inspected. Thc Marlboro Guards were inspec ted lastThursclny night by AsaL Adjt. Gen Patrick for the Slate and Lieut. Col. Ezra B. Fuller, ll. S. A, for the United States. Tho company showed up well and the guns were in good condition. IT pou the completion of tho inspec ions now being conducted there will hon reorganization ot the Militia of| tho State. Tho present force of 3700 men will ho cut to 2500. The Marlboro Guards hope to be retaiucd in the service. Attention Camp Henegan to ho held. All comrades will come prepared to pay their dues. All in arrenrs for more than one. year will be dropped from tho roll. A full attendance is de sired, ns- business of importance is to he transacted. By order, P. L. Breeden, V. C. C. M. Weatherly, Adjutant. - Do not fail to hear the fine music we are promised for Fri day night. Fanners Should Pull Together. To make thc Southern Cotton Grownr's Association a full and complete .success, depends upon the farmers. Spot cotton went up to 8 cents in New York this week; that means 7 1-2 cents here. We read in the Greenville and Spar tanburg papers that a number of farmers in each of these places sold their cotton on this rise in thc price; that those who sold had not joined the association and therefore were under no pledge. To make a suc cess ol' this great movement the far mers should stick together, violate no pledge, but on the contrary do all they cnn to further the plans of thc association. You arc now more nearly organized and a unit in feel ing and desire than ever before and if you break away now you can never got together again, which will mean disaster hy placing yourselves iu the hands of the speculators to stay.- Union Times, March 17.
