with Judge C. G. Dantzler on the
bench. In tho absence of Solicitor
Johnson, who had been detained at
home on account of sickness in his
family, His Honor charged tho grand
jury ns to their powers aud duties aud
instructed them to spend tho morning
hours looking after public buildings,
&0. Mr P. B. Mooro is foreman.
Solicitor Johnson not arriving for
the afternoon session. His Honor had
court adjourned to Tuesday moroiug.

There were seven young ladies in
the contest. Miss Sue Covington
received 1008 votes of the 2328
cast, and won the prize, a beautiful
ch?telain gold watch. Votes were
sold at one cent each. The crown
ing of the Queen is to take place
this evening, and a big time is
expected.

County Game Warden.
Governor Heyward has appointed
Mr. Thomas S. Evans county game
warden for Marlboro, whose duty it
will be to see that no violations of the
game law is made iu Marlboro. We
are glad of this appointment, and we
do hope all violations of the game law
will be reported to him promptly.
The game law goes into effect April
1st-to-morrow week.

erence to Small Pox or tn prevent the
spread of thc diseuse in thc Town ol' Ihr,
pottsville recommended that the same oe
embodied in an Ordiuunce.
Now he it ordained by the Mayor and
Aldermen of the Town ol' Bennettsville
iu Council assembled and by authority ol
the same :
That on and after this date all person?
living on the lands of the Bennettsville
Manufacturing Company where small pox
is now prevailing are prohibited from
coming within the limits of said Town of
Benncttsville. except such us arc immun
ed and cannot communicate the disease
hy reason ol'having had the disease or by
not having been exposed to the saino, and
that such imumncd persons may he per
milled to come into the Town hy having
a certificate from the chairman of the
Hoard of Health that they are immunes
and that any person violating this Ordi
nance shall bc fined not less than One
Dollar nor uior? than One Hundred Dol
lars or by imprisonment not less than one

That any person or persons soliciting
customers for Hacks, Hotels. Boarding
Houses or any other purpose in the
Town ot Bennettsville at the Railroad
stations within the Town limits are
hereby prohibited ?rom entering the
Cars or soliciting such customers within
a linc fifteen feet from Railroad running
parallel with the said Railroad. Any
violation of this Ordinance shall bc pun
ishable by a fine ot not more than twen
ty five dollars, or thirty days work on
the streets of said Town or imprison
ment thirty days in the discretion of the
Mayor ol said Town.
