The celebration on Friday last
by tho Masonic fraternity of Bon
nettsvillo, was one ot the best I
managed social events that lins j
ever taken place in our town. The
auditorium was packed at S.80 to
hoar tue public address by Hon.
W. W. Lumkin of Columbia, who |
was introduced by lion .7. II. Hud
son. The address was heartily
enjoyed, as waa also the fine mus-j
ic by tho Bennetlsville Musical
Club-piano, mandolins, violins.&c.
The exercises were opened with
prayer by Rev. Bunyan McLeod,
and closed with the Benediction
by Rev. T. E. Morris, Dr. .J. F.
Kinney presided.
After thc address, thc fraternity
with invited guest repaired to the
Guards armory Hall where a spe
cial committee with Mesdames
Stockton and Kinney in charge
served refreshments that were
most heartily enjoyed by all,
Col. T. C. Hamer acted as toast
master, Judge C. P. Townsend
responded to "The Day We Cel
ebrate." Col Knox. Livingston
responded to "Our Women." Col.
Lumpkin, the guest and speaker,
again responded with his usual
fun, arid captured the audience.

A Most Enjoyable Occasion.
The young people ot our town en
joyed one c-t the iiuest entertainments
Inst Wednesday evening that they
have had thc pleasure of enjoying for
some lime. It was given at the beau ti*
fill and lovely home of Mr. and Mrs.
W. 1'. Breeden
Al eight thirty o'clock the invited
guests began to arrive with their part
ners. They were met at the frontdoor
hy Mr. and Mrs. breeden and ushered
into a lovely parlor cooled by electric
fons. About nine o'clock all the guests
had arrived and Mrs. breeden and
that charming young lady Miss Ly I
( rosland began to pair off tho boys
and girls for them to iiavo a clint for
a minute or two After the chat Mrs
breeden made all assemble in the par
lor and then she told us how we were
to select our partners.
Slips of pnper had been cut and on
them were written some wise sayinga.
Thc boy or rather the prince, had just
a part of the quotation on his while
his partner, whoever she may be, had
the rest on hers. Tho slips were dis
tributed and then bogan tho wild
search for partners. Soon it was over
with and all were satisfied. Then Mrs
Breeden arose again and said that now
as each prince had his princess, they
must have a prince and princess to
rule over all of the princes and
princesses. She then asked her son

Ho3a McMillan. Now Miss McMillan
hod lo .-elect a prince and she selected
Master Henry Bouchier. The Prince
had to luke the minor princes and
princesses up and inlroduco them to

And the presents they were supposed

turned into the parlor. Mrs. Breeden
now called up the lour graduates and

After this presentation tables were
made ready and all served to delicious
cake and cream.
When wo all relut ned to the parlor
and Miss Lyl Crosland played tho
Swanee River and tho young folks
gat bored around her and sang.
lt was something after eleven when
we began lo look for someone to take
home. Then we began pas.-.big out
and as each passed out he ami she ex?
pressed how much they had enjoyed
