Dear Sir. Our section is very dry. Early cot ton is line and in good condition; but ?i large percent of the April planting is not up yet und considerable percent ol the acreage not yet planted on ac. count of the drouth. Oats and Corn are dwarfed, and gardens considerably retarded. Peas, potatoes, beans and turnips, are a daily ratiuu with us no cabbage yet Health ni our section is good. WTe have u line climate. R-uely ever have snow and thermometer rarely ever reaches blood heat and have never known it over 101. Our lands are ele vated and well drained naturally. Very little swamp in connection with our streams and our wells are from 50 tu UO feet deep affording an abund ance of pure clea?' cool water. Com paratively, no malaria here. Our soil is gray, pebbly, with mulatto to red clay .subsoil. Some harder to cultivate as a rule, than the Marlboro lands but not requiring so much fertilizers to produce au uvera'e crop, then again, possibly, not susceptable to so high development lintier the intensive system ?ts the Marlboro lands are. The Georgia shovel stock is the uni versal plow here. On this they use ti.e bull tongue, the scooter, the shovel, the hall turtier, the wing tur ner and the heel scrape-this consti tutes thc whole outfit. Some of our people, in fact nearly ali of them use the Dow Law or the Gantt Cotton planters. The guano-horn is the fav orite distributor. Occasionally we Bee a .-hovel stock with a wheel and box attachment used as distributors and some of them seem to do good work Our farmers know nothing of the ad vantages of it hind slide or bar in con ni ciion with a shovel stock for sweeps or heel Ecrapes. Our little village, "Carnegie" named int-the Phillautliropist, is in the south ern portion of Randolph County 10 miles routh of Cuthbert, on the new G. F. i.V. A. Railroad, und is only u little over ono year old We have a beautiful site for a town. We have one brick row consisting of live store rooms, but only two iirms occupying them except u milliner in portion of one of them, We luve a cotton ware house-stored about 2000 hales last season. We need a diversity of busi ness herc and some more capital than we have. A good opening fur some j enterprising person with some capital But probably this does not interest you. Dear} Editor-As I haven't no ticed anything in your paper from this section lately I will send you a few dots to let you know what is doing. The crops aro fine through here< The farmers have began chopping cotton. I think if wc have good sensou?, we will keep general green down. There has been a few cases small pox in the Wesley section, but it was ail among. lite colored people. The Wesley School was discontin ued on account of it. There was a case m about a hundred yards of it; The Teacher and all of her pupils were very sorry for it to close. We had a good school, and one of tho best Teachers that has ever taught sehool here. The pupils who received prizes in the diifereut ' branches were, Florence McIntyre, Earnest Mc Laurin, Neil MeLauriu, Rufus Stanton, Baxter Stanton, and Don nie Weaver. Some of the Wesley people arc going to Charleston this week, among them is Mr. D. J. MeLauriu D. L. McIntyre, Miss Sallie D McIntyre. They are going to take in the Reunion, we wish them ii good old time. The Library which Miss Snliie McIntyre has worked so faithful foi has been received at Wesley, and will be opened every Saturday alter noou from 1 to 5 o'clock.
