An Ugly Scare.
One evening last week Mr. and
, Mrs. W. A. Atkins bad quite a scare,
i In some way a paper of Paris Green
which had been placed upon a shelf
fell to the floor. His li'tie babe was
playing in the room and got hold of
' tue package and when discovered was
covered with the poison. The mother,
of cou rmi was frightened, but the
prompt attention of two doctors soon
1quited the fears of father and mother,
and the little oue was not hurt abit
A Pair.lui Accident.
On Saturday night Mr. Hammonds,
the engineer on the Gibson and Sum
ter run, bad the misfortune to break
his arm in two places. After stopping
at the tank Bouth of the depot for
waler he started to dismount, from his
engine and in some way fell off the
step and broke bis right arm in two
places. He returned to Sumtor Mon
day and will be laid up for some
time,

Mr. J. P. Gibson, though u.it well,
filled hia appointment to lecture at
Morven, N. C , last Thurscay night.
Alargo audience greeted him in the
Methodist church and his lecture gave
such general satisfaction he waa re
quested to furnish it to the press for
j publication. Mr. Gibson while at Mor

Prof Roberson Fletcher's school, and
