The music was effectively ren

tra. Immediately after the cere
mony a reception was given the
happy couple at the handsome
inttnsion of Mr. H. G Carrisou,
which was beautifully decorated
for the occasion. Mr and Mrs.
Aucrum left after the reception
for Ashvilie, N. C., A>r a brief
stay, after which they will go to
Charleston where Lieuteuant
Aucrum will be stationed with
the torpedo flotilda. The best
wishes of the community go with
this young couple, who are both
deservedly popular.
Two Preventives Agalust Moths
Take one fourth of un ouuee
each of ground clove* and cara
way seed, otib ounce of dried
common salt, one half pound of
laveuder flowers free from the
stalk and one half ounce each of
dried thyme aud mint. Mix well
together, uud put iu cambric or
silk bags. These scent bags, if
ptuced among clothes, will pre
serve them froui moths aud give
u pleasant odor.
If you are troubled with moths
in the house, try putting blot
ling paper well saturated with
turpentine in the drawers, among
the furs aud bedclothes, or
wherever there is any danger of
moths working their depreda
tions; it can even be put along
the edge of carpels. Turpeutiue
is the best preventive of moths I

An Ordinance To Raise Sup
plies For The Year of
Our Lord, 1909.
lie it ordained by the Mayor and
Aldermen of the City ol ('ami'.on, S.
O., )tid by the authority ol tin-same,
that the following taxes he and the
same are hereby levied fur the current
year from the 1st day of Jauiuiay 1000.
to the 81ft day of December, 180#.
A tax of ten (10) mills on each and
every dollnr of real and personal prop- j
erty within the corporate limit a ol the
City of Camden, S. (J., on the first day
of January 1801).
Sec. 1. That all nble bodied male
person* between the ages of eighteen
and fifty years, residing within the
corporate limits of the city of ('an.den,
S. C? not exempted from roati duty
under the law of the State, shall work
the streets, ways and bridges under
the direction of such overseers as may
be appointed for such a space of time
not exceeding six (0) days in one year.
Provided : That at the time of re
ceiving the notice any person may pay
to the person giving such notice three
dollars^ (?1.00) commutation, which
shall be received iu lieu of the work,
and that any person refusing to work
paid streets or to pay said commuta
tion, shall be fined not less than five
($5.00) dollars nor more than ten
($10.00) dollars or be imprisoned not
less than ten (10) days nor more than
twenty (20) days, in the discretion of
the city Recorder.
