plies For The Year of
Our Lord, 1909.
Be it ordained by the Mayor nml
Aldermen of tlie City of Camden, S.
[J., and by tlte authority ol the same,
that the following taxes be nml the
laine are hereby levied for the current
year from the 1st day of Janmiay 1000.
to the 81ft day of December, 18(H).
A tax or ten <10) mills on each and
?very dollar of real and personal prop
erty within the corporate limits ol the
L'ity of Camden, S. CM on the first day
of Jannnry 1800.
Sec. 1. That all able bodied male
person* between the ages of eighteen
and fifty years, residing within the
corporate limits of the city of Can.den,
S. C., not exempted from roau duty
under the law of the State, shall work
the streets, ways and bridges under
the direction of such overseers as may
be appointed for such a space of time
not exceeding six (0) days in one year.
Provided: That at the time of re
ceiving the notice any person may pay
to the person giviijg such notice three
dollars (?1.00) commutation, which
?hall be received in lieu of the Work,
and tiiat any person refusing to work
(?aid streets or to pay said commuta
tion, shall be fined not less than five
{$">.00) dollars nor more than ten
($10.00) dollars or be imprisoned not
less than ten (10) days nor more than
twenty (20) days, in the discretion of
the city Jiecorder.

Passenger Train No. 81 of ilie
Seaboard, which now stops at
all stations between Hamlet and
Columbia, will make but three
stops between those points, viz:
Cheraw, McUee and Camden,
and will leave Camden station a
few minutes earlier than us now
ut 9.47 n. tn. south bound, and
7.10 p. in. north bound.
A local passenger service will
be established with Train No.
01 which will make stops at all
stations between Hamlet and
Columbia. This train will leave
Hamlet at 7.35 a. m., and pass
Cumden at about 9.50- a. m
Returning, will leavo Columbia
at 4.00 p. m., arriving at Camden
about 5.00 p. in.
There will bo no change in the]
schedules of trains 00 and 43
which now pass Camden station
at 0.30 a. in., and 10 40 p. in.
When the Limited is put on,
which will be on or about Jan.,
1st, we will be in the enjoyment
of tho services of eight passen
ger trains daily, instead of four
as now.
This speaks well for tho en
terprise of the 8. A. L., and the
projected change of schedule will
be of great convenience to not
only the traveling public, but to
our people as well. Under this
