Prof. J. N. Harper. Director of the
Clem son Experimental Station, who Is
one of the best agricultural experts In
tho South. Professor Harper has per
sonally solicited the exhibits for this
dspartment. and will arrange every
thing to advantage. He will be at
slstsd by his whole corps of expert
associates, and It will be worth the trip
to the fair Just to talk to thoss expert
men and get their Ideas on practical
farming.
Clemaon College will have a big ex
hibit In this department, but will not
be allowed to compete with the Indi
vidual exhibits. Some fine prises will
be awarded the farmers. For Instance.
KO will be given for the largest yield
of corn to the acre. 926 for the second
best, snd cotton will have the same
amount awarded for the best yield per
acre. Do sens of other Interesting con
tests have been provided.
President Mobley. being a practical
stockman himself. Is giving much at
tention to this part of tho fair. There
will be more thoroughbreds shown than
ever before. The stalls hove all been
renovated and the pure water from the
city has been connected, so that the
cattle snd stock will be well taken
care of. This will be good news to
hundreds of breeders who might other
wise have hesitated to send their finest
to the fair. The poultry show bids fair
to be a grand success this year. There
seems to be more Interest In every de
partment. . The management believes
this will be the largest and best fair
ever held here. Information as to the
prises will be cheerfully supplied by
