Latest Election Returns The laleqt returns from the second primary election shows .the positive nomination of E. D. Smith over John Gary Evans for United Buites Senator by a ^ery decided majority. As all the returns are not yet in so we can not give exact figures. The general estimate however makes Smith's majority 25,000. Swear, ingen has a considerable lead over Mellichamp, with strong probabilities of election. Late returns indicate the nomination of Cansler, of Tirsah, over Banks L. Caughman for railroad com missioner. For congressman from the 5tli district D. E.* Fiuloy is nomi nated over T. R. Butler by some thing over 2,000 majority. In the Kershaw county elec tion W. Hampton Cobb is nomi nated over Capt. Geo. R. Hem* beri; McKcnzie has probably de feated Turner for superintendent of education; Trantliain is main taining a strong lead over Mose ley. The ruce is fairly close between Dixon and Huclcabee for coroner, with the odds favor ing the former. A heavy vote was polled in almost every county in the State and about asjarge a vote will be shown to have been ca??t as in the lirst primary. The election was a bso 1 u t e Iy q 11iet every w here, which is much to the credit of the whole people. There is some talk of a con test by Governor Evans, but we do not think there will be any thing in it. Tribute of KuKnect.
