Any reasonable doubt as to the ex

the open admission unchallenged by
the Republican national committee of
s single individual, that he himself

Iho Rights of the States.
Believing with Jefferson in "the
support of the State governments in
all their rights as the most competent
administration for our f'?)m<?tie con
cerns and the surest bulwark against,
anti-republican tendencies" and in
"the preservation of the general gov

vigor, as the sheet-anchor of out
peace at home and safety abroad."
wo are opposed to the centralization
implied in these suggestions, now
frequently mnde, that I he powers of
the general government should be
extended by judicial construction.
Economy in Administration.
The Republican Congress in session
jnst ended has ma<>; appropriation!
amounting to $1,003,000,000, ex?
cecding tho total expenditures of the
past fiscal year bv $90,000,000 and
leaving a deficit of more tnan $(fo,.
000,000 for the fiscal year. Wo de
nounce the needless waste of th?
people's money which has rcsultet
in this appalling increase as
shameful violation of all pruden
conditions of governments a* no le*
than a crime against the millions of
working men and women from whose
earnings the great proporition of
these collojsal sums must be extorted
through excessive tariff exactions
tnti other indirect methods.
Pension*.
Wo favor a generous pension policy
both as a matter of justice to the
lurviving veterans entV their de
pendents and because it tends to re
lieve tbo country of the necessity of
maintaining a Urge standing army.
Natural Resources.
We repeat the demand for internal
development and for the eonservation
of our natural resources, contained in
previous platforms, the enforcement
of which Mr. Roosevelt has vainly
lought from a reluctant party and to
that end we insist upon the preserva
tion, protection and replacement of
nocded forests, the preservation of
tho public domain for home seekers,
the protection of the natural resources
in timber, coal, iron and oil against
monopolistic control, the develop
ment of our watorwaya for naviga
tion and every other useful purpose,
including the irrigation of arid lands,
the reclamation of swamp lands, the
clarification of streams ,the develop
ment of water power and the preser

by this natural force from the con
trol of monopoly; and to snsh end, we
urge the exercise of ail powers, na

Panama Canal.
We believe the Panama e&ual will

Banking.
The panic of 1907, coming without
anr legitimate excuse, wheu the Re

in complete control of the Fedral
