Cleveland Farmers Union will meet at the usual place at 4 p. ill , on the second Friday in July. P. T. Bruce, Pres. Firemen's Tournament. Camden lostout in the firemen s tournament at Darlington on last Thursday. The Columbia team ran first and won first, the time being 'I T? seconds. The second prize was won by Sumter, their time being 34 seconds while Camden tailed the bunch with a score of 38 seconds. Dirliugton hail a fine showing for first prize, but a nozzle burst out which threw them out of the running. It is only fair to the three lat ter named teams to mention that they hud to matce the ia:c in a heavy rain on a heavy truck, while Columbia ran before the rain. Editor The People: We see that the office of Judge of Probate has been declared vacant by the Governor, so we want to suggest Mr. L. T. Mills for I he place. In some unaccountable man ner our wrappers addressed to several postofBces became mixed last week, and THE PEOPLE seems to have gone to the four quarters of the globe, iu fact in every direction except the right one. In consequence, a number of our subscribers did not re ceive their paper. The occur reuce is extremely unnoyiug to ns. but accideuts will liappcn sometimes. It is certain that those papers went somewhere as they were positively placed in our post office here, and were doubtless properly distributed by | our post master. Why the post master or carrier after opeumg a wrougly addressed package, did not re address it properly and forward it to its destination, we cannot say. The top paper iu each package nas the full au dress on it, so ignorance of the proper' destination of the pack age cannot bo pleaded as an ex cuse.
