School Closing and Picnic
^ DeKalb school was closed on
Saturday last for I he season. The
occasion was appropriately cele
bra ted by a picnic which was at
tended by a largo number of
patrons and friendsol I he school,
and the very efficient teacher,
Mrs. C. P. Loriclf Good order
prevailed throughout, and sigh
iusg wains, and bonny lassi s
were much iu evidence. Several
addresses were delivered by
prominent speakers, including
Messrs. J. c. Ililton and \V. R.
B u field. We also made a Tew re
maras which were received with
rather more attention than we
think they deserved, but as
courtesy is proverbial with those
DeKalb folks, we will set it down
at that.
Another School Closing.
^ Tho school of Mr. Tom Mc
Caskill at Blaney was closed on
Saturday with a picnic. A tre

and the occasion is said to ha\e
been a very enjoyable one. All
the candidates were invited to
attend this function, including
ourself, and practically all of
them were there except Sheriff I
Hilton and lit. A previous en
gagement at. DeKalb prevented
acceptance of the invitation from
our friends. We are informed
that the oratorical feats of the
numerous candidates are -some
thing long to be remembered.
The dinner was alright, the au
dinance and orators alright
though perspiring, and the gene
